EU-Projekt European Solidarity Corps

Come and Care with Us!

Unser EU-Projekt „Come and Care with Us!“ ermöglicht jungen Erwachsenen aus anderen Ländern die Caritas-Arbeit in Bayern im Rahmen von Freiwilligeneinsätzen kennenzulernen.

The Project

In our Europan Solidarity Corps project "COME AND CARE WITH US!" we offer 14 different volunteer service locations all over the region of Bavaria (Germany) for young volunteers from foreign countries. The volunteers services take place between January 2021 and December 2023. Each volunteer service is scheduled for 12 months and covers different target groups and types of services. The volunteer service locations range from child to senior care and from outpatient to inpatient services.

The Benefits...

... for volunteers

As volunteer you get deeply involved in our professional services and you will benefit from your learning experiences and contacts for your personal and professional future.
Are you a young person between 18 and 30 years old from a foreign country and you are interested in spending an individual volunteer service in one of our Caritas organisations in Bavaria for 12 months?
Then you may check out our volunteer locations below and register at the European Solidarity Corps.

... for sending organisations

As sending organisation the project is a great opportunity to intensify or start collaborating with us and our network. Do you represent an organisation that wants to send young volunteers to us?
Then please contact the volunteer locations below directly or the project coordinator Ulrike Achmann.

... for the coordinating organisation

As hosting organisations we get enriched by the personalities, ideas, perspectives and support of the volunteers and the exchange with the sending organisations.

Caritas in Bavaria is an important stakeholder in the field of social services with 90.000 employees and more than 2000 services. We provide social services to more than 1 million people per year. The Landes-Caritasverband Bayern acts as coordinating and lobbying organisation for all Caritas organisations in Bavaria since 1917. Since 2003 we implement and are involved in all different kinds of European projects.

The Volunteer locations in Bavaria

Caritas Marianum (Location: Munich)

Where: Caritasverband für die Erzdiözese München und Freising e. V.

When: March 2023-December 2023

Activity:
Volunteers become a permanent member of the staff of the Caritas Marianum community residential program for 33 people with intellectual disabilities. The offer is located in the heart of Munich. Some of the residents attend an external day-structuring measure such as the workshop for people with disabilities. The other part of the residents spend the whole day at the Marianum and receive different offers during the day, e.g. gymnastics, cooking and baking. In addition, our residents are of course allowed to move freely in the social area and go independently, for example, to the bakery. The volunteers are assigned to a residential group, with a firmly defined group of residents. In addition to the tasks of daily living (accompaniment and support in getting up, seasons specific dressing, personal hygiene, etc.) there are errands and accompanying walks (including to the doctor). In addition, there are times for group activities such as play afternoons, reading together, movie nights, and times for group activities in the attached garden or in the therapy rooms. In these diverse tasks of the day, the volunteer supports and accompanies the people with disabilities independently, in each case after guidance by a specialist of the facility.

Volunteer position in the Caritas Center (Location: Pfaffenhofen a. d. Ilm)

Where:
Caritas-Zentrum Pfaffenhofen

When:
March 2023-December 2023

Activity:
Volunteer activities can take place in two different sections of our services - in "Essen dahoam” - meals on wheels and the "MGH" - multi-generation house.

As volunteer you support our "Essen dahoam” service in Pfaffenhofen. At "Essen dahoam" we take care of the delivery of delicious meals to people, who are no longer able to take care of themselves at home. Our partner kitchens cook freshly every day. Our drivers bring the booked meals ready to eat at lunchtime customers - 365 days a year, including Sundays and public holidays! Our customers receive the current meal plans from us every week and can decide in peace at home.

What do we do?

  • Entering the orders for "Essen dahoam"
  • Preparation of route planning for food deliveries
  • Processing of accounts for "Essen dahoam"
  • Taking on new customers
  • Cooperation and consultation with the cooperating kitchens
  • and much more

The "MGH" - multi-generation house follows a cross-generational approach which gives the MGH Pfaffenhofen its name and its central feature:
Younger people meet older people, help them and vice versa. This interplay of generations preserves everyday skills and knowledge from experience, promotes integration and strengthens cohesion and empathy between people. It is a place of encounter and mutual help.
Here are a few examples: In the children's park, small children are prepared for kindergarten, elementary school students are helped with their homework in the learning support and working parents are relieved in the holiday care. The job sponsors support job seekers with applications and the office guides help with forms and dealing with authorities. In the workshop cafe, broken objects are repaired in the interests of environmental protection and sustainability.
